In 1991, Falken decided to participate in the endurance race with Nissan Motorsports Europe and placed 17th and 20th in an event marked for multiple challenges throughout each stage.

The Group A Nissan "Works" Sunny GTI-R entered and piloted by Hiroshi Nishiyama and co-driver Hiroki Sugiura valiantly soldiered throughout the rally.

The Safari Rally in Kenya is considered one of the world's toughest.

It was first held from May 27th to June 1st, 1953 as the East African Coronation Safari in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanganyika as a celebration of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

In 1960, it was renamed the East African Safari Rally and kept that name until 1974, when it became the Safari Rally.
